Can Texas Tech stop anybody?

The Texas Tech Red Raiders don’t have problems scoring and quarterback Patrick Mahomes is one of the most fun players to watch in the Big 12. The problem for Kliff Kingsbury’s team is his defenses haven’t been able to stop anyone.

Texas Tech had four games where they scored at least 50 points. They won all four of those games. Tech also had four games where they allowed at least 50 points. They lost all four of those games. They allowed 55 to TCU, 63 to Baylor, 63 to Oklahoma and 70 to Oklahoma State, which is an embarrassing figure for the Red Raiders to try to overcome.

The defense has never been much of a priority at Texas Tech but there have to be some signs of improvement. And that improvement can be in the form of only allowing 45 instead of 55 or 55 instead of 70. That’s how progress can be measured with this unit, but they have a potential All-Big 12 defensive lineman in Breiden Feioko to help lead the way.
