Can Baylor replace studs in the trenches?

The Baylor Bears have had plenty of talent at the skill positions under the watch of head coach Art Briles with one prolific quarterback after another and a Biletnikoff winner in Corey Coleman. But the overriding reason Baylor has been able to win double-digit games with regularity has been the guys in the trenches.

Sure, the recovery of injured quarterbacks Seth Russell and Jarrett Stidham and whether KD Cannon can replicate the numbers Coleman put up are tantamount to the Bears Big 12 title hopes in 2016, but the biggest question facing them is replacing the big guys in the trenches on both sides of the ball.

All-American left tackle Spencer Drango is headed to the NFL and leaves a big question mark as to who will protect Russell and Stidham.

On the defensive line, replacing nose tackle Andrew Billings and end Shawn Oakman are just as important. In fact, Billings may be the toughest player to replace in the Big 12 this offseason, but K.J. Smith and Brian Nance will try to do just that.
