Big 12 Football Spring Preview: Biggest question for each team
How will Matt Campbell makeover Iowa State?
Iowa State is one of the toughest places to win and win consistently. That’s why Paul Rhoads found himself out of a job after another dismal season in Ames and why former Toledo head coach Matt Campbell is in town.
Campbell is a winner through and through after a championship career as a player at Division III powerhouse Mount Union and a hot start with the Rockets in his first coaching gig.
This won’t be a quick fix at Iowa State but Campbell’s first task is changing the culture and bringing the type of player who is used to winning and hates to lose.
Of course, there’s no score in spring practice but if the players have a belief and confidence they can compete in every game this fall, Campbell will have a head start when the season gets underway.
I think Campbell is going to get Iowa State in bowl games but it may just take a year or two to get there.
