Game Date: Saturday Sept. 1o, 2016
Venue: Heinz Field, Pittsburgh, Pa.
Series Record: Penn State leads, 50-42-4
Last Meeting: Sept. 16, 2000 (Pitt 12, Penn State 0)
Why it’s intriguing: Renewal of a great college football rivalry

There was a time when Pitt vs. Penn State was one of the best rivalries in the country, but with conference realignment and schedule shuffling, sadly this battle that began back in 1893 got lost in the mix.

Head coach Pat Narduzzi had the Panthers in the hunt for a Coastal Division title in the ACC last season, and they’re one of the favorites this year. Their rock solid defense and strong run game are exactly the kind of opponent that gave Penn State trouble in 2015.

Without quarterback Christian Hackenberg, the Nittany Lions are going to have to find a new offensive focal point. Last season, when Hackenberg was out, Penn State struggled to score and move the ball at all.

This should be a low-scoring, defensive affair, and will be tons of fun to see these two old rivals reconnect.
