NFL Draft: 25 best first overall picks of all-time
By Gabe Encinas
John Elway comes in as one of the most accomplished players at both the college and professional ranks. A consensus All-American at Stanford and Pac-10 Player of the Year in 1982 surged Elway to the top of draft boards, landing him a new home with the Denver Broncos.
Elway would play out his entire 15-year career in Denver, who has now developed into the general manager and executive vice president of football operations. During his career with the Broncos, he won five AFC Championships, going on to win two Super Bowls. He was named NFL MVP in 1987 and selected to the Pro Bowl nine times.
As his career came to an end, he would later be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, as well as the College Football Hall of Fame.
