College football rule changes we’d love to see happen
No. 9 – Transfer Rules
Hey look, if they aren’t going to pay these poor kids the least the NCAA can do is allow them to come and go as they please, especially in some extenuating circumstances.

Coaches (one of the big reasons many kids commit to a program) have the freedom to hop from school to school, job to job, with money falling out of their pockets from buyouts and bonuses. Meanwhile, the players are told they have to stay put or sit out and waste an entire year.
Players have to basically sign their lives away to get these scholarships, and then if something happens to make the situation untenable for them (eg: pro-style QB playing for a program whose coach is replaced by an option offense coach), they have no recourse other than waiting (unless they are a graduate transfer).
On top of that, schools are able to cherry-pick and make lists of schools where players cannot transfer to if they want to be released from their scholarship. Indentured servitude is alive and well in the NCAA.
Players should have the option to transfer without a waiting period and to play for the program and coaches who will help their future the most.
