SEC Football: Ranking the best coaching jobs
8. Auburn Tigers
If Cam Newton is the quarterback for the team, this is the best college job in the world, but that was a fleeting moment in Auburn sports history they’ll likely never approach again. The biggest knock on the program is they are the little brother to the juggernaut in Tuscaloosa where Nick Saban has made Auburn an insignificant spot on the map.
Auburn can win, I don’t know if they can win big and take home some SEC championships in the near future, but the commitment from the administration and the fan base will always be there. Just because they’re not Alabama doesn’t mean they aren’t a quality program with a lot to offer a prospective coach.
And if Gus Malzahn doesn’t reverse the downward trend in Auburn, we may see just what type of candidate they can attract this offseason.
