Thieves In the Temple – Georgia Bulldogs

Tell-Tale Lyric: Kicking me in my heart, tearing me all apart
‘Cause me and you could have been a work of art
Thieves in the temple

The Graffiti Bridge soundtrack didn’t give us quite as much as Purple Rain in the way of hits, but the often-covered single Thieves in the Temple is still a crowd-pleaser by any measurement.

In college football, locker rooms, stadiums and dormitories where the players live are the temples, and to have those sacred places desecrated is beyond horrible for most programs. Unfortunately, Georgia has seen multiple occurrences of this behavior.

Recruits stealing from locker rooms, teammates stealing from dorm rooms, players stealing from the school – there were plenty of thieves in the temples of Athens, Ga. and then head coach Mark Richt made sure they weren’t part of the fun anymore.

So many great players who really could have made an impact at Georgia never got that chance because of dumb decisions, but tip of the cap to Richt and the school for not covering up such shenanigans in order to keep the program tidy. It may have been Richt’s hardline on this type of thing that was a contributing factor to his losing the job at Georgia.
