SEC Football: 35 Best NFL players from SEC teams
Tyrann Mathieu was a Heisman finalist his last eligible year at LSU but slid to the third round and pick No. 69 after he was dismissed after failed drug tests. He’s made up for the mistakes he made in college and turned into one of the best players in the NFL.
Mathieu was named a first-team All-Pro in 2015 and was in contention to win the Defensive Player of the Year for most of the year until getting hurt with two games left on the schedule.
The Honey Badger had three interceptions in his first two seasons but had five in 2015 and set a new career-high with 17 passes defended and 80 solo tackles. The Cardinals free safety is recovering from knee surgery but if he is healthy for Week 1 should be in line to compete for the DPOY.
