No. 2: Steve Hatchell – President and CEO, National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame

While many fans may not be familiar with Hatchell’s name, he is imminently qualified for a position such as this.

Before his current duties as president and CEO of the NFF and College Hall of Fame (which operates the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta), Hatchell served as the first commissioner of the Big 12, as well as commissioner of the Metro and Southwest conferences.

Hatchell has also served on several United States Olympic Committee boards, and was part of the staff for three Olympic games.

Beyond his resume, Hatchell is known as someone who is a strong advocate for the integrity of the game, and works hard to keep the voices of more than just the Power-5 being heard. He was instrumental in the formation of the Big 12, and in the negotiations for their television deals and bowl tie-ins.

He has an in-depth knowledge and love of the game, and despite not having coached, he has all the credentials to make a quality commissioner.
