SEC Football: 10 best games to watch in 2016
10. Clemson at Auburn
September 3- Jordan-Hare Stadium
Want a way to get off the hot seat really quickly? Beat the national runner-ups in the Playoff last year. That is exactly what Gus Malzahn and his Auburn Tigers will be looking to do in the season opener against Clemson. Auburn was able to steal a victory from an ACC foe last year in the form of Louisville but Clemson presents a whole different animal for Auburn to contend with.
Clemson will still have Deshaun Watson and he will almost certainly pick up where he left off last season. Auburn does have a formidable defensive line led by Carl Lawson who can certainly get to the quarterback. If Auburn’s defensive line can get enough pressure on Watson then it will make things easier for the defensive backfield.
Auburn’s offense might not fare well against the Clemson defense. Regardless of if Auburn starts Sean White or JUCO newcomer John Franklin III at Quarterback, Clemson most likely would be able to control both quarterbacks. Expect to see a lot of Auburn running back Jovon Robinson as he is more than capable of making plays and will run behind a solid offensive line led by Braden Smith and Austin Golson. Robinson will be even more counted on due to the lack of experience in Auburn’s receiving corps.
Prediction: Auburn is a sneaky team that tends to come out of nowhere every other season or so; The 2013 team that had won 3 games the year before in 2012 and then went to the BCS National Championship Game is a perfect example. Auburn has home field advantage and might keep the game close early on but it will not be enough for them as Clemson has too much firepower on offense.
Score: 42-20 Clemson wins
Next: 9. Florida at Tennessee
