9. Florida at Tennessee

Sept. 24- Neyland Stadium

This game could decide the SEC East unless Georgia ends up having something to say about that, but for now, these are the top two teams in the East. Tennessee has not beaten Florida since 2004.

If Tennessee really is the team that people think it is (I am not one of those people) then this would be a nice time to show that you can get past a team that you have not beaten in over a decade. Tennessee certainly has the offense, led by Josh Dobbs and Jalen Hurd, to score on Florida, but Florida has a stout defense that does not give up points easily.

Florida, as has been their mantra since Tim Tebow left, needs to find an offense. They had it for the first six games of last season in Will Grier, but Grier decided that performance enhancers were a good idea and quickly found himself suspended and then transferred in the spring.

There was without a doubt a difference in the Florida offense after Grier’s suspension in terms of production and efficiency. Head coach Jim McElwain hopes that Luke Del Rio will be the answer the Gators need to get back to the SEC Championship Game.

Del Rio, if he is the starter, will have to defeat Tennessee if those goals are to be accomplished. The Gators have talent at the running back and receiver positions to be able to move the ball on the Vols, they just need the right QB to make sound decisions and get them the ball.

Prediction: Tennessee is the “It” team in the conference this year and they should be, they certainly have a lot of talent and are well coached; but Tennessee has had this hype before (last year) and fallen flat on their face. If Florida goes into Neyland Stadium with Del Rio in a rhythm with his offense and the defense remaining tough as always, then I would expect Florida to increase their winning streak against the Volunteers.

Score: 30-27 Florida wins
