Big 12:

Jim Grobe – Baylor (10-3 overall, 6-3 Big 12 in 2015)

Career Head Coaching Record: 110-115-1
Last Stop: Head Coach – Wake Forest
Prediction: 7-5, 4-5 Big 12

Jim Grobe is probably the coach in the least enviable position this season. The Baylor program is fighting a sexual assault scandal, recruits are jumping ship, freshmen are asking for a release and some of the schools biggest boosters only wanted Grobe there for one season.

No pressure at all.

The funny thing is, Grobe is exactly what this program needed to get straightened out. He may not bring all the flash and as many wins as Art Briles, but he’ll run a clean program and regain the confidence of the community and parents of recruits.

Grobe does have more talent on the field than he ever had in his entire career at Wake Forest, so things aren’t completely lost. That said, don’t look for much from the Bears this season.

Matt Campbell – Iowa State (3-9 overall, 2-7 Big 12 in 2015)

Career Head Coaching Record: 35-15
Last Stop: Head Coach – Toledo
Prediction: 4-8, 3-6 Big 12

This was actually a great hire by Iowa State, and while it’s doubtful Campbell will turn the Cyclones into the next TCU of the Big 12, there will be a much more competitive team on the field during most weeks.

While most of the Big 12 is opening things up, look for Campbell to get things going with a much more traditional offense (at least to begin with). The Cyclones are going to pound the ball a lot, and open up the short pass game.

Watch for some potential upsets against Texas and possibly even West Virginia.
