Independent:

Kalani Sitake – BYU (9-4 in 2015)

Career Head Coaching Record: 0-0
Last Stop: Defensive Coordinator – Oregon State
Prediction: 6-6

Kalani Sitake is this season’s complete baptism by fire for head coaches.

Sitake is going from almost zero pressure in Corvallis to walking on hot coals every week at BYU. Not only is this first-time head coach replacing a very popular and successful coach in Bronco Mendenhall, but the Cougars have an absolute murderer’s row of a schedule this season.

It’s going to be a long season against conference and playoff contenders like Arizona, Utah, UCLA, Michigan State, and Mississippi State on the schedule. The last three games against Southern Utah, UMass and Utah State won’t get here quickly enough for the Cougars.

The one thing Sitake does have is a couple of quarterbacks who’ve proven they can bring a team back from a big deficit, and they may be in that position a lot this year.
