Former Notre Dame Fighting Irish head coach Lou Holtz has a strong, unpopular stance on immigration at the RNC.

Former Notre Dame head coach Lou Holtz has made his way to the Republican National Convention in Cleveland this week and he’s not failing to make some noise, much like he does weekly on ESPN during college football season.

Besides carrying around a Crown Royal bag which has since been debunked by fellow ESPN personality Rece Davis as something he carries things other than alcohol in, Holtz has weighed in on some of the biggest issues about politics and one of those is immigration.

Not sure why Lou Holtz’s opinion on immigration would be valuable in any way, but he had some strong, unpopular words during the RNC Tuesday and they’re making people cringe already.

Woah. No one is making you celebrate the holidays of immigrants, but I would be shocked to see Holtz sitting at home on, let’s say, St. Patrick’s Day instead of celebrating. Not that he’s being forced to celebrate, but that’s not exactly a holiday that was created by America’s founders.

As if that wasn’t enough, Holtz also claimed he didn’t want to speak the language of immigrants. All that can be said about these quotes is yikes.

It’s hard to tell what’s real life and what’s not these days, but this is definitely a poor look for a prominent figure on ESPN who acts as a college football analyst.

Let’s hope he keeps these opinions to himself this fall when he’s talking college football.

Odd that a guy who used to coach a program with the Fighting Irish as its nickname would have such a strong stance against immigration. The Republican National Convention is full of controversy thus far.
