4. Boise State University

The Pros:

You know who they are. The Boise State Broncos have been the darlings of the college football world since their 2007 upset of Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl. While the Broncos have had a slight drop off, if any drop off at all in production since the departure of Chris Peterson to Washington, the Broncos are still the kings of the Mountain West Conference.

The Broncos are a proven winner and should be more than qualified to enter the Big 12. Boise is not afraid to play top teams. In the past they have played Oregon, Washington, Georgia, Michigan State and Ole Miss, all in the regular season.

The Cons:

There really is not a lot of cons to the Big 12 adding Boise State, other than the lack of competitive teams outside of football. The only reason Boise is not number one on this list is because we have not heard a peep from them since talks of the Big 12 expanding started back in 2014.

Much of this may have to do with the location of Boise, Idaho not offering much in terms of TV markets or even Boise State’s small alumni and fan base. Those should not hold Boise back, they deserve to be among the Power 5 schools. They have earned that. If the Big 12 does expand to 14 teams, I would expect to see Boise in the mix.
