Former Auburn Tigers running back Jovon Robinson fired back at his old coaching staff, one day after he was dismissed from the team.

One day after he was dismissed from the Auburn football team where he was in line to be the Tigers’ starting running back, Jovon Robinson fired back at his old coaches.

Robinson was dismissed on Wednesday evening for an unspecified violation of team rules. ESPN’s Brett McMurphy reported he was dismissed because of missed classes and meetings and a “continued inattention to detail in everything.”

However, Robinson painted a different picture in comments made to Al.com when he alleges he was disrespected and stereotyped while at Auburn.

“Everything about (the) Auburn coaching staff is not what it seems,” Robinson told Al.com. “Just because I don’t walk around with (a) fake smile, they feel like they (can) say or try to force anything.

“I was stereotyped and disrespected. The football players are not happy with this.”

He also dismissed McMurphy assertion that Robinson was missing classes and not paying attention, “It’s nothing about me missing class or not paying attention,” he said.

Robinson is the second former No. 1 ranked junior college recruit to be dismissed in as many years after receiver D’haquille Williams was dismissed last year after a series of suspensions and incidents that mirror the Robinson story.

Both Robinson and Williams were exceptional talents but couldn’t do the little things required of them to be great football players, teammates and student-athletes. Despite the coaching staff’s best efforts the players were unable to mature and do the things required of them to represent Auburn football.

With Robinson off the team, Kerryon Johnson is the team’s presumptive starter after he ran for 208 yards and three touchdowns on 52 carries last year.
