5. A favorable schedule

Oklahoma’s schedule works in their favor tremendously. Per ESPN’s FPI Rankings, they are projected to go 10-4, which would be a down year compared to last year, but they open up their season with their first two games against Houston and Louisiana-Monroe.

The Sooners have a 90% chance of beating Houston according to the rankings and a 99% chance of beating Louisiana-Monroe.

Three games in particular will be tests for them as Ohio State, Baylor, and Oklahoma State are on the docket in that order. However, nestled within those three games sits a very favorable conference schedule, one that should present a little less of a challenge but nevertheless, games that are important to win.

With eight home games and four away games on the docket, the home field advantage combined with the strength of schedule should see Oklahoma land in the championship game.
