J.T. Barrett was seen as the savior of Ohio State’s season as a freshman in 2014 and that year he ended up finishing fifth in Heisman voting even with being injured and missing the final three games of the year. Barrett missed games last season due to the incredibly confusing quarterback drama that essentially defined the season for Ohio State. Losing playing time to Cardale Jones, who is now in the NFL, certainly hurt Barrett’s stats and efficiency in leading the team.
There is no doubt in 2016 that Barrett, barring injury, is the clear starter and most likely will start all of the Buckeyes games. He’ll have the chance to show what he can do with an entire season under his belt. Ohio State will have plenty of playmakers to catch the ball from Barrett.
Barrett has a good skill set, strong arm, good decision maker and can make things happen with his feet. As long as he stays healthy, expect Barrett to make great strides in his junior year and have Ohio State in position for a run to the playoffs.
