2015 was a season cut short for Seth Russell due to a neck injury, but he had already established himself as a top-notch quarterback before that. For only playing in seven games last season, Russell put up some incredible numbers and will be counted on again to lead the Bears in 2016.

Needless to say, it has been a tough offseason for Baylor, Russell’s play can at least provide some good news for Baylor fans after an offseason marred by a sexual assault controversy that coast head coach Art Briles his job.

Russell not only has great arm talent but he can also run when needed to, Russell had rushed for 402 yards and six rushing touchdowns in 2015 before his injury. What you have to love most about his game is his ability to make a play while not turning the ball over. Russell does need to work on his completion percentage, which was just a 59.5 in 2015, but that should come with more games being played (barring injury) and more experienced receivers.

Speaking of receivers, Russell’s greatest asset on offense is receiver KD Cannon. Cannon has explosive speed and great hands. Baylor’s offense tends to be well rounded, but it might suffer from a lack of returning offensive line starters in 2016, as only one starter from last season returns; meaning that Russell could have to use his legs more in 2016, at least early on while the offensive line gels.
