The Duke Blue Devils drop three spots in this week’s ACC Power Rankings, they’ve lost two straight games.

Backup quarterback Daniel Jones threw for 249 passing yards but had no passing touchdowns in the Blue Devils 24-13 loss to Northwestern last week. Jones did, however, throw an interception.

Mistakes cost the Blue Devils in this week’s loss. A fumbled snap by Duke punter Austin Parker set the Wildcats up with good field position to score. A missed reception by wide open tight end Erich Schneider on a fake punt attempt on 4th and 10 failed. Duke kicker AJ Reed missed a 48 yard field goal.

The good news: The Blue Devils defense only allows 18 points per game, 38th in the nation. The bad news: The Blue Devils offense scores 25.3 points per game, which is 96th in the nation.

Duke is still searching for answers on the offensive side of the ball since losing quarterback Thomas Sirk at the beginning of the season. Expect more growing pains for Duke on offense.

Next Week: @Notre Dame

Things don’t get any easier for the Blue Devils next week as they face the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Duke is 1-3 all time against Notre Dame.
