Week 3 result: 20-15 win against East Carolina

South Carolina finally got to go to their home stadium to play a football game and probably surprised their fanbase with a win over the East Carolina Pirates.

So what if South Carolina was outgunned by East Carolina by 200+ yards? The Gamecocks were able to put together the necessary plays in order to win the game. Freshman quarterback Brandon Mcllwain started the game and while he did look like a freshman quarterback at times, certainly led the offense and provided the spark they needed to get the win over the Pirates. The defense was encouraging, while they did allow a lot of yards, the defense clamped down and was strong when it needed to be.

South Carolina will head on the road against Kentucky next week, if the Gamecocks want to get to a bowl and stay out of the bottom of the SEC East, then they’ll need to get the win.

Next game: September 24, at Kentucky, 7:30pm ET SEC Network
