21. Michigan State Spartans

Average Home Attendance 2006-2015: 73,564 (98.1% of capacity)
Average Season Winning Percentage: .683
Seasons Under 90% Capacity: 0
Seasons Over 100% Capacity: 1

Michigan State has long been overshadowed by the state’s flagship school in Ann Arbor. But the Spartans have enjoyed the better run of success recently under Mark Dantonio. It has been a just reward for fans who have showed up strong at Spartan Stadium for years. The best sustained run in program history has been built on the back of fan support that has been unwavering. Through up seasons and down, Michigan State has seen fans keep supporting the green and white.

Since 2006, the Spartans have averaged at least 70,000 people per home game each season. A few years after Dantonio arrived to replace John L. Smith in 2007, Michigan State was averaging more than 74,000 fans per game and was beginning to become a force in the Big Ten. Yet it was the 2012 season in which the Spartans finished 7-6 that they enjoyed the highest attendance, surpassing stadium capacity consistently over the course of the season.

The Spartans will always have a smaller fan base than some of their Big Ten East rivals. But all the trials and tribulations that come from playing against national powerhouses only make it that much sweeter for the fans when Michigan State pulls through for league crowns and College Football Playoff appearances.
