Arizona takes the prism out of Hawaii and its Rainbow Warriors

Arizona relied on the legs and arm of quarterback Brandon Dawkins who was good for 353 total yards and four touchdowns over Hawaii. Anu Solomon who has been the starter has missed the last two games due to a knee injury and Dawkins has taken over.

With Dawkins, the Wildcats have won their last two games and he is completing 62 percent of his passes and has two touchdowns with no interceptions. There is little doubt that he has used this opportunity to make great strides.

”I’ve got to take advantage of my opportunity when I get it,” Dawkins said, ”and I feel like I did so these last couple of weeks.”

Another key injury for Arizona was running back Nick Wilson (ankle). The Wildcats used freshman J.J. Taylor to carry the rock and he was solid for his first start in his collegiate career. rushed for 168 yards on 18 carries, including a 61-yard touchdown dash down the sideline.

”Not surprised at all,” Rodriguez said, ”and obviously when Nick got hurt, he was the guy. He’s a tough, competitive player. He’s got a lot of shiftiness to him. He really is mature beyond his years at this level of football.”

The Wildcats lead for most of the game and by the end of the third quarter, as the game was already out of hand. Arizona had a 44-14 lead and went on to win 47-28.

They are going to need to clean up on the defensive side of the ball. The Wildcats have shown an inability to tackle and how will they address their injury situation will also be key next week as they face #8 Washington at home.
