The Hurricanes had a bye week in Week 4 as they prepare to open ACC play against Georgia Tech next Saturday. While Miami looks like a surefire AP Top 25 team in Mark Richt’s first season at the helm, we have yet to see them play anybody of consequence. They’ve scored 51 points a game and allowed just over a touchdown a game, but that was against FCS Florida A&M, Florida Atlantic, and Appalachian State. The Canes have done everything you’d expect of a top team against overmatched opponents, but now they’ll play some real competition.

After Georgia Tech the Hurricanes face Florida State at home in a game that has failed to live up to its rivalry hype since Miami’s move to the ACC. If Richt’s crew can end a six-game losing streak against the Seminoles, the U will be positioned to finally reach its first conference title game after over a decade in the league. Mark Walton has been critical in the backfield through the first three weeks, averaging 134 yards and two touchdowns per game on the ground.
