Group of Five: Week 4 Access Bowl Power Rankings
By Zach Bigalke
Should the Broncos meet San Diego State in the MWC championship, it is entirely possible that both teams will arrive at that title game undefeated. If that happens, the Mountain West could reclaim its spot atop the Group of Five hierarchy. Boise State already has two wins over Pac-12 schools. After knocking off Washington State in Week 2, the Broncos went to Corvallis after a bye week and dealt Oregon State a two-touchdown loss.
Now Bryan Harsin’s team opens conference play with a tough game at home against Utah State. The Broncos also face BYU in a Thursday-night home game on October 20 that comes after five days’ rest. Should Boise State reach November 8-0, they should have no problem with a trio of San Jose State, Hawaii, and UNLV. In that case it would all come down to a Black Friday showdown at Air Force for the MWC Mountain crown and a shot at the Aztecs.
