College Football Rankings 2016: Projected AP Top 25 after Week 5
By Zach Bigalke
Alabama started slowly on Saturday, trading field goals with Kentucky in the first quarter before turning on the offense in the second frame. The defense keyed in on the Wildcats as well, allowing just one more field goal the rest of the way. In the middle quarters, the Crimson Tide racked up four touchdowns. By the end Kentucky had amassed just 161 total yards of offense, less than a third of the Tide’s offensive output.
Until they lose a game, the defending national champions are not going to move from their spot atop the AP Top 25. The next three weeks present several dangerous threats to the Tide’s winning streak. Nick Saban’s crew plays at Arkansas and at Tennessee over the next two weekends before returning home to welcome Texas A&M to Tuscaloosa on October 22. If they can make it out of October unbeaten, Alabama has a good shot at reaching the SEC championship game with a 12-0 record given LSU, Mississippi State, and Auburn are having down years.
