The Louisville Cardinals drop to the number two team in this week’s power rankings, but there’s no need to panic.

The Cardinals looked as though they would fall apart early in the game but came roaring back in the second half. Quarterback Lamar Jackson and the Louisville offense rallied off 26 straight points to go up 36-28 in the fourth quarter. But Clemson would go on a run of their own to win 42-36.

Jackson had 162 rushing yards and two touchdowns and 295 passing yards and a passing touchdown. The Cardinals’ defense had three interceptions and forced two fumbles in the game to keep things close down the stretch.

Louisville had 31 first downs, went 9 for 19 on third down conversions, and had 568 total yards of offense. There is certainly a lot more to learn about this team going forward.

This Week: Bye

The Cardinals are off until they face the Duke Blue Devils on October 14.
