9. 2003-2005 Uniform Evolution

The 2003 season is when Oregon made its first real foray into trying to change things up with its look. Even then, it was hardly a revolutionary switch that they had undertaken. The uniforms were still heavily tied to Oregon’s green and yellow color scheme and using rounded numbers. In many ways they looked like a reversion to a throwback look, maintaining clean lines and simple numbering that was neither garish or flamboyant. In short, though Oregon was beginning to experiment with fabrics and designs, they were not yet pushing the sartorial envelope.

There were a couple of notable things about these years. The color schemes did change a bit from week to week, with Oregon beginning to experiment with different pant and jersey combinations. There was subtle patterning on the shoulders, presaging the future more overt designs to come. In general, though, when we think of the Ducks as innovative dressers, it really wasn’t until the mid-2000s that they really started to get more edgy with their looks.
