The 10 Greatest Oregon Ducks Football Uniforms of the 21st Century

4. 1916 Rose Bowl Team Throwbacks (October 8, 2016)
Oregon has had fun with throwback designs in recent years, but this will be the first time that they’ve paid homage to the first Rose Bowl team. Back then, Oregon was known as the Webfoots rather than the Ducks, an allusion not to a critter but to the soggy nature of the state. When Shy Huntington first quarterbacked Oregon to the Rose Bowl against Penn on New Year’s Day 1917, he led a team bedecked not in yellow and green but in a navy blue redolent of the state flag.
In that spirit Oregon is taking their 2016 spring game uniform concept and supercharging it. The state flag will feature on the helmet, the school fight song’s lyrics are inscribed on the shoulders, and the colors are reminiscent of the Webfoots of yesteryear. There are actually two versions of this uniform, one home and one in white for away games. Both veer the Ducks further away from their official school colors, but it is a fitting homage to pay tribute to the first Oregon team to gain notoriety on a national level.
