Sometimes a uniform can try to do too much, with each element overwhelming one another. In such cases the result is something lesser than the sum of its parts. There is something to be said for sticking to a team’s base colors and focusing on making one element of the uniform pop. The designers got it exactly right with this 2011 uniform, allowing the jersey to be the star of the show as the helmet and pants took a backseat.

With a simple black helmet featuring the standard Autzen-and Hayward-inspired O logo and black pants, the emphasis of this uniform was entirely on the stylish jersey. The top launched the use of the modernized Duck logo on the uniforms, facing bill forward on each shoulder. The jersey also featured the “Fighting Ducks” moniker in Oregon text across the chest, a nickname emblazoned on both jerseys and pants multiple times since its debut.
