Pac 12 Power Rankings Week 5: The conference has a new king
The offensive line was absolutely dominating. Sophomore quarterback Jake Browning threw for 210 yards and three touchdowns while being accurate with precision connecting on 15 of 21 passes and finishing with a 202.6 quarterback rating. Running back Myles Gaskin rushed for 100 yards and two scores. The Huskies finished with 214 yards and averaged 5.2 yards per carry. They literally showed the Cardinal what having a solid quarterback and running back can actually do to a tough defense.
The Huskies were so very efficient in their offense as well. They scored seven of their nine possessions. “Everyone just did their job,” Browning said. “It wasn’t anything flashy about it. Everyone did what they were supposed to.”
Also, don’t make the mistake that the Huskies don’t have a strong defense. They shut down future NFL star Christian McCaffrey. He was held to 49 yards rushing on 12 carries, five catches for 30 yards, and somehow he channels Drew Brees as he has never scored a touchdown in a road game.
Washington also attacked the pass and quarterback Ryan Burns. Sacking the signal caller six times in the Cardinal’s 29 first-half snaps, limit the Cardinal to 2.8 yards per play and hold them to 1-for-6 on third down.
The Huskies are now gonna go on the road and play Oregon a team they haven’t beat since 2003 and then at home against Oregon State.
