College Football Rankings 2016: Projected AP Top 25 after Week 6
By Zach Bigalke
Florida State looked dead in the water in the first half against Miami. Then they rolled off 17 straight points in the second half to take a 20-13 lead in the fourth quarter. The Hurricanes scores a touchdown with 98 seconds remaining, but the Seminoles managed to block the extra point to preserve a 20-19 victory on the road. Deondre Francois went 20-of-31 for 234 yards and two touchdowns, while Dalvin Cook rolled off 138 yards on the ground after starting slowly. After so many kicking gaffes cost FSU in this rivalry in the 1990s, special teams went in the Seminoles’ favor.
The Seminoles pulled things together at just the right time, regaining momentum in conference play after losing their first two ACC games. FSU takes on Wake Forest next week, then takes Week 8 off before welcoming Clemson to Doak Campbell Stadium. If Florida State can upset Clemson, it will throw the ACC Atlantic picture back into a tailspin. If they can run a second-half slate that includes NC State, Boston College, Syracuse, and non-conference rival Florida, all Jimbo Fisher’s team will need is another loss from Clemson and two more from Louisville.
