College Football Rankings 2016: Projected AP Top 25 after Week 7
By Zach Bigalke
In a top ten matchup on the road, the Crimson Tide eviscerated Tennessee to win its 19th straight game and remain atop the AP Top 25. Jalen Hurts continued to suffer through growing pains at quarterback for Alabama, throwing for just 143 yards and an interception. Hurts did lead all rushers with 132 yards and three touchdowns, however. The defense clamped down on the Volunteers, holding the hosts under 200 total yards of offense and preventing any comeback magic. Though the Tide lost the turnover battle, it didn’t matter as they ran away with a 49-10 victory.
Nick Saban’s team still has a long road ahead if it hopes to win the SEC West. Next week undefeated Texas A&M comes to town hoping to render a changing of the guard within the division. November opens with a trip to Death Valley to face perennial rival LSU. Working in Alabama’s favor is the fact that they don’t have to leave Tuscaloosa for the rest of the regular season once they return from Baton Rouge. Home games against Mississippi State and FCS Chattanooga are the undercard before the Iron Bowl against Auburn on Thanksgiving weekend.
