2017 NFL Mock Draft: First-Round Projections after Week 8
By Tyler Brooke
Again, Notre Dame’s DeShone Kizer probably isn’t the third best prospect in this draft class. However, in a league that’s dominated by quarterbacks, teams like the Chicago Bears have no choice but to reach for a prospect like Kizer when they have a need at the position.
Jay Cutler is likely on his way out and Brian Hoyer isn’t going to be a long-term option, which makes Kizer a logical selection for the Bears. The Notre Dame prospect has had a rough go of it as of late, but all of the talent is there.
Kizer has the ideal build for an NFL QB at 6’4” and 230 pounds. He has a great arm and can put some beautiful touch on some of his passes while displaying some solid mobility.
The biggest concern for Kizer is his decision making. He can make all of the throws he’ll need to at the next level, but there are some throws he forces that just make you shake your head. If he can overcome those mental mistakes, he’s going to be a heck of a player at the next level.
