Week 8 College Football Power Rankings
By Elias Arnett
The Clemson Tigers are coming off a much-needed bye week after their 24-17 overtime scare against NC State. Their bye really couldn’t have come at a better time in the season. The Tigers needed a week to re-group after their win against NC State, but also needed it to prepare before traveling to Florida State this week to take on the Seminoles.
Now there’s no question that the Florida State team this year isn’t what we’re used to seeing (5-2), but I think their win at Miami really changed the momentum for this team. After losing on a game winning field goal to North Carolina the week before, it took a blocked field goal from the Seminoles to give them a win over the Hurricanes.
Both Florida State and Clemson are coming off their bye, and I really think that the Seminoles are going to give them trouble. I think it’s going to be had for the Clemson defense to stop Dalvin Cook, and that environment will create some nerves. However, this Clemson team has been tested before. Of course last year they played in the National Championship game (losing to Alabama), but they should have a sense of what it’s like to play in the moment.
Right now I really think this weekend’s game is a toss-up. It’s obvious they must play better than they did against NC State, and I think they will. Head Coach Dabo Sweeney is going to have them prepared, especially after their bye week, but can they execute? Everyone should tune in this Saturday at 8pm, because this Clemson Florida State matchup is going to be a hell of a game.
