College Football Rankings 2016: Projected AP Top 25 after Week 10
By Zach Bigalke
Losing to Ohio State was hardly unexpected. Nebraska never found itself in the game, though, falling behind 24-3 by halftime. More worrying for Mike Riley and his staff, though, was the fact that Tommy Armstrong Jr. had to be taken off the field in an ambulance. Preliminary reports state that this was mainly precautionary in nature, but his health could impact the Cornhuskers’ spot in the College Football Playoff rankings more than this week’s defeat to the Buckeyes.
The CFP committee had Nebraska ranked 10th after their loss to Wisconsin, one spot behind where they sat in the AP Top 25 after Week 9. Losing to Ohio State should likewise not have too much of a detrimental impact on their ranking in either the media poll or the committee rankings, unless Armstrong is out for any length of time. After the defeat Nebraska no longer controls their fate in the Big Ten West, but they could still be in play for a major bowl appearance if they can remain healthy the rest of the way.
