College Football Rankings 2016: Projected AP Top 25 after Week 10
By Zach Bigalke
Utah had a bye week in Week 10, returning to the drawing board after narrowly falling to Washington the previous Saturday. Kyle Whittingham’s crew remains a game behind Colorado in the Pac-12 South, but the two play head-to-head in Boulder on November 26. As long as both teams keep winning, they should be on track to play the equivalent of a division championship game on Thanksgiving weekend.
The loss to the Huskies didn’t completely kill the Utes’ chances in the playoff mix. But while they remained five spots ahead of Colorado in the AP Top 25 last week, the CFP committee saw fit to drop the Utes behind their division rivals in the most significant rankings. Interestingly, though, both had Utah right at #16 last week — the same position Ohio State was in two years ago at the time of the first ranking. Since Colorado matched Utah’s record with another win this week, the AP voters are likely going to also bump the Buffaloes over Utah when the Week 10 poll is released.
