College Football Rankings 2016: Projected AP Top 25 after Week 10
By Zach Bigalke
Arkansas showed Florida no mercy on Saturday, dealing the Gators their second SEC loss of the season and reopening the conversation in the SEC East race. The Florida running backs finished with just 12 total yards on 14 carries, while Luke Del Rio completed barely 50 percent of his passes and threw two interceptions. After rising into the top ten and opening at 11th in the CFP rankings, Jim McElwain’s team is likely to see a plummet down the Top 25 in both lists after the dust settles on Week 10.
Given the way that the SEC has generally been given the benefit of the doubt in recent years, Florida is in no danger of dropping all the way out of the Top 25. They will likely drop further down the AP poll than the CFP rankings, and the bigger result will likely be the reappearance of the Razorbacks in the AP poll. Florida still has the advantage in the SEC East thanks to their head-to-head win over Kentucky in September, but another loss would open the door not only for the Wildcats but also Tennessee.
