College Football Rankings 2016: Projected AP Top 25 after Week 10
By Zach Bigalke
More accustomed to playing under the lights at night, Washington State played a day game against Arizona. The resounding win provided an eye-opener for those across the country who haven’t yet seen them play in 2016. The Cougars trounced Arizona 69-7, with Luke Falk breaking the team completion percentage record in the process. Falk completed 32 of 35 for 311 yards and four touchdowns, while the Cougars also got 140 rushing yards and three scores on the ground.
Washington State came in as the last team in both the AP Top 25 and the College Football Playoff standings last week. Beating the Wildcats isn’t likely to boost their position too much in the polls this week, but they could vault a few spots thanks to attrition above them. The CFP committee seems to have little esteem for the Pac-12 this season, as evidenced not just by Washington State’s low ranking but also things such as Washington’s position below Texas A&M in the inaugural list. Getting a day game to showcase their skills could provide a bump of a couple spots.
