College Football Rankings 2016: Projected AP Top 25 after Week 10
By Zach Bigalke
LSU has looked much improved after firing Les Miles and elevating Ed Orgeron to interim head coach. That still wasn’t enough to knock off the juggernaut that is Alabama. The Tigers kept the game scoreless through halftime, but the Crimson Tide pulled away in Death Valley to knock off the Bayou Bengals in a defensive showdown. Danny Etling threw for fewer than 100 yards against the stout Tide defense, and as a result the Tigers were shut out for the first time in two seasons.
The Tigers couldn’t manage to upset Alabama, but they will remain comfortably entrenched in the AP Top 25 as well as the CFP rankings. Last week LSU was slotted in two spots higher by the playoff committee than by the media voters, and they will probably drop only a few spots after losing at home to the top team in the country. A tough November slate only gets tougher with Arkansas, Florida, and Texas A&M closing out their regular season. They have a high upside, but also a long way still to fall.
