The Duke Blue Devils are still winless in ACC play, but their showing against Virginia Tech moved them up a spot this week’s power rankings. They have lost three games in row by a total of 16 points. It is the second game in a row the Blue Devils were on the losing side of a 3-point loss.

The Blue Devils are 0-5 in ACC play but their 24-21 loss showed their first victory is right around the corner. Quarterback Daniel Jones ran for 99 yards and two touchdowns against the tough Hokies defense.

Jones also threw for 148 passing yards. The lone blemish for the Blue Devils came on special teams last week. A blocked field goal by Virginia Tech was returned 75 yards for a score which proved to be the difference maker in the game.

The Blue Devils earned more first downs in the game than the Hokies (24-23) and didn’t have a turnover in the game. It was the second time this season the offense didn’t turn the ball over.

This Week: North Carolina

The Blue Devils face another ranked opponent in rival North Carolina this week. If they want to keep their bowl streak of four years intact, they’ll need to win their next three games. They’ve lost the last two meetings to the Tar Heels.
