Don’t look now, but the Wake Forest Demon Deacons are bowl eligible for the first time since 2011. At 3-2 in the ACC Atlantic division, they’re third behind Louisville and Clemson who both have six wins currently. They move up a spot in this week’s power rankings.

The Demon Deacons used a 39-yard pick-six by cornerback Jessie Bates to seal the victory last week 27-20 over Virginia. They trailed the Cavaliers 20-17 entering the fourth quarter but interceptions were key in getting the victory.

Cornerback Cameron Glenn’s 41-yard interception return early in the fourth quarter put the Demon Deacons in position to tie the game at 20. Glenn also had a fumble recovery for the defense. Wake Forest scored 10 points off turnovers in the game.

The Demon Deacons tie with Clemson and Louisville in turnovers per game on defense with 2.2 this season.

This Week: @Louisville

The Demon Deacons will be put to the test this week when they face seventh-ranked Louisville on the road. It will be interesting to see if the Wake Forest defense can contain quarterback Lamar Jackson. Wake lost last season’s meeting 20-19.
