SEC Football: Takeaways for Each Team from Week 10
Auburn Tigers
Auburn 23-Vanderbilt 16
The Auburn Tigers won’t get any style points for the ugly win, but Vandy has to be considered a quality win the way they’re playing at this point. While the win wasn’t special, it will likely move Auburn into the top 10. The Tigers proved they could win an SEC football game without Sean White, but not against elite competition.
Sean White wasn’t even kept out of the entire game despite his shoulder injury. John Franklin III couldn’t move the offense like Gus Malzahn hoped, but Auburn still came away with a victory.
Impact Moving Forward
-None
Auburn was able to pull out the W, but won’t gain any momentum from this weekend. That in itself, though, is progress. Auburn losing the game could have been disastrous for the Tigers, but instead Auburn pushed through and got the W.
If Auburn wants to remain relevant for the SEC Football Championship, the Tigers will need to find a way to continue winning with a sub-100% Sean White. Georgia shouldn’t present a ton of trouble for Auburn, but Alabama will be the test. The good news, though, is that Sean White should be healthy by the Iron Bowl.
