Group of Five: Week 10 Access Bowl Power Rankings

At this point Wyoming is increasingly looking for real in the MWC Mountain and could factor into the Group of Five race. Last Saturday night they crushed Utah State at home 52-28, opening up a 35-7 lead by halftime. The Cowboys got 261 passing yards and four touchdowns from quarterback Josh Allen, who added another 66 yards and a score on the ground. Running back Brian Hill rushed for another 142 yards and two scores as Wyoming moved to 5-0 in league play. The Aggies converted just 6 of 16 third downs, while the Pokes caused two turnovers on defense.

When Craig Bohl first started coaching at North Dakota State, it took four years for him to win his first conference crown with the Bison. He could be following a similar trajectory in Laramie. The Cowboys played Nebraska close through three quarters, and also holds the head-to-head tiebreaker over Boise State should they lose a MWC game before the end of the regular season. As long as that loss doesn’t come at New Mexico in the regular-season finale over Thanksgiving weekend, Bohl’s team will be playing San Diego State for the right to enter the Access Bowl discussion.
