Once again Western Michigan kicked off its week with some Tuesday-night #MACtion in time to write about it for these rankings. The Broncos survived a shaky start on the road to remain the only undefeated Group of Five team left in the country. Kent State contained WMU’s aerial attack, as Zach Terrell completed just 6 of 13 passes for 83 yards, and otherworldly receiver Corey Davis caught just one pass for 18 yards. Four different players rushed for a touchdown, though, led by Jarvion Franklin’s 134 yards and Fabian Johnson’s 125.

If the Broncos win out, P.J. Fleck’s team will be headed to Texas for the Cotton Bowl. They are currently ranked ahead of Boise State in the College Football Playoff rankings, and Western Michigan is one of just five unbeaten FBS teams left in the entire country. They get to close out the year at home against Buffalo and Toledo, and would be a heavy favorite against whoever emerges from the MAC East. Barring an upset, this is the team that will try to write another chapter in college football’s Cinderella stories this postseason.
