Big 12 Football: Week 11 Power Rankings
By VF Castro
9. Iowa State Cyclones (Record: 2-8)
Iowa State managed to come back from a fairly significant deficit against Kansas at the through three quarters, and earned what many are referring to as a tiny component to the Cyclones improvements. Considering both Iowa State and Kansas were 1-8 heading into the game, it has to be a morale booster for a Cyclones’ team that just hasn’t been able to put together a complete game. Having lost five games this season by 10 points or less, the Cyclones could be threatening to Texas Tech this weekend, especially with a newly found confidence.
While Iowa State and Kansas were fairly evenly matched on paper, the Cyclones did commit five penalties for 59 yards, and those disciplinary issues could be costly in the home stretch. Is it possible for Iowa State to beat Texas Tech? Absolutely. They’re a threatening team, that always plays Big 12 teams with a certain level of intensity you wouldn’t expect from a team that just can’t seem to get over the hump.
