College Football Rankings 2016: Projected AP Top 25 after Week 12
By Zach Bigalke
Oklahoma maintained its perfect record in Big 12 play on Saturday, overwhelming the Mountaineers in Morgantown to win their eighth straight game. The running game went full bore as both Joe Mixon and Samaje Perine rushed for over 100 yards each and got on the scoreboard, while Baker Mayfield and the passing game were largely set aside on a snowy day. The Sooners clamped down on West Virginia as Bob Stoops got the better of Dana Holgorsen to take control of the conference.
The Sooners get to take Thanksgiving weekend off after remaining unbeaten in conference play and solidifying their position in the Top 25. With their win over the Mountaineers on the road, Oklahoma did their part to set up a winner-take-all showdown for the Big 12 title against Oklahoma State in the Bedlam game on December 3. Houston’s win over Louisville this week also made the Sooners’ own loss to the Cougars look better by comparison, and even if the Sooners lose the conference to the Cowboys in two weeks they should remain in the hunt for a New Year’s Six invite.
