Arizona State served as the perfect bounce-back game for the Huskies after their loss to USC. Washington took a 24-0 lead by halftime and finished with a double-digit victory on Saturday. Jake Browning still looked shaky, throwing for over 300 yards and a couple of scores but also tossing two interceptions in an uneven effort. But Washington did everything necessary to keep itself in the race for one of the College Football Playoff spots. The defense was critical in the victory, as they held the Sun Devils to just 15 rushing yards in the 26-point win.

With Louisville’s loss, Washington no longer has to worry about the CFP committee selecting two ACC teams for the bracket. If the Huskies win out and emerge as a 12-1 champion out of the Pac-12, they are guaranteed a spot in the Fiesta Bowl or the Peach Bowl depending on seeding. Even if they lose to Washington State in the Apple Cup and miss out on playing for the conference title, Chris Petersen’s team is unlikely to fall that far down the Top 25 if they finish 10-2 and would nab a spot in the Rose Bowl or Cotton Bowl.
