Louisiana Tech sealed its spot in the C-USA championship game last week with a win over UTSA, opening up an insurmountable lead in the standings over the Roadrunners that made the head-to-head tiebreaker a moot point. The Bulldogs have looked like the class of Conference USA for much of the season, and while they fell short in upset bids against both Arkansas and Texas Tech there is still plenty of hope left in 2016.

The Bulldogs take on Southern Miss on Saturday in Hattiesburg. While the game isn’t critical for Louisiana Tech in terms of the conference race, they must beat the Golden Eagles to retain any chance at stealing away the Access Bowl bid for Conference USA. A three-loss conference champion is going to have no margin for error, and a four-loss champ is effectively out of the running. So Skip Holtz needs to make sure his team wins out to maintain any hope.
